Event Description


The Hitching Post Farm Fall Horse Trials is a great way to end the Area 1 season that combines a farm friendly atmosphere with updated showjumping, professionally built cross country jumps and a little bit of challenging terrain. Our family has been running the HPF Horse Trials for more than 40 years and we hope you join us for many more!

Tentative Schedule:
Fri: Cross‑country course open-3 pm. Sat: Dressage (OP/OT)-8 am (ON/BN) 9 am ; Cross‑country OP-BN 10 am start; Show Jumping immediately follows cross country round, please wear XC attire.

Waiver/Release :

A properly signed 2018 USEA Horse Trials and Classic Series (R2017) Events Entry Form must be uploaded and provided for each horse. If you need a copy, go to www.useventing.com/competitions, or you can you can find under "Download Flyer" tab for this listing.

Refund/Changes Policy :

All changes $20 and must be emailed.

Refunds: Before C.D.-Less $25 non-refundable office fee; After C.D.-Entry/Stabling-No refund. All refunds must be requested via email. Competition cancellation-No refund. USEA Starter and D&M Fees Refund Policy: The USEA Starter and D&M fees ($21), are not subjected to office fees, and shall be returned within 30 days of the competition to any rider who does not start the dressage test.

All entry fees include a $25 non-refundable office fee. USEA current membership (Junior, Collegiate, Full or Life) and horse registration (Limited or Full) are required at all levels.

ONLINE entries accepted through Blue Horse Entries. If you are new to Blue Horse Entries, you will first need to create a rider account. If you are a parent/guardian for a rider under 18, you will need to create an account for yourself, and add your rider to your account. It's fast and simple! Stabling Information :

Very limited onsite stabling $50.00. Riders with Saturday night stalls must wait until 5 pm to occupy stalls. Stalls available at $40 one mile away.

Hay, Grain, Shavings Information :

Initial bedding provided. No shavings available for purchase on farm.

Coggins Policy :

Neg. Coggins required for all horses within 12 months; must accompany entry.

Attire Policy :

Please visit useventing for attire for one day competitions. Please wear cross country attire for show jumping.

Medical Arm Bands :

Must be worn for jumping phases including warm-up. Wrist bands do work at HPF.

Food and Drink :

Hitching Post Farm has a wonderful concession and we encourage everyone to enjoy a delicious breakfast or lunch from Farmhouse Catering. Please help us by following signs for recycling and please don't leave outside trash in our bins.

Volunteer Information :

We love volunteers! We offer vouchers that can be used for events, xc schooling or lessons (transferrable). A great way for parents and grandparents to enjoy watching and have something to do! If interested, contact Laurie Hudson, 802-356-2874, laurie@hitchingpostfarm.com.

Area Hotels :

We are 25-35 minutes from the WRJ VT/Lebanon-Hanover NH area and 15-30 minutes from Barnard/Woodstock. Lots of hotels and B&B's.

Other :

Cross‑country course closed May 1.

All dogs must be on leashes.

Levels may be further divided/combined if entries warrant; state preferences under the Eligible Section and birth date on entry.

Riders Under 18

Great! We are glad you want to ride and we want to help with your entry.

Because it requires consent from an adult parent or guardian, your parent/guardian must create an account and submit the entry on your behalf. It's quick and easy--and you can even help them if you need to do that! Have a good ride!
