Event Description

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the 1978 World Three-Day Event Championships at the Kentucky Horse Park, which developed into the long-standing annual Kentucky Three-Day Event, one of the world’s most prestigious — and popular equestrian events. Offering $400,000 in prize money, The Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event is the only CCI 4* in North America. It is a Member Event of the Rolex Grand Slam of Eventing.

Tentative Schedule:
Monday and Tuesday: Horses may arrive 8 am to 6 pm. Earlier or later arrivals must be cleared with Director of Competition.
Horses must arrive by 8 am Wednesday. Wednesday: Competitor Briefing - 10 am; Cross-Country Test Course Walk follows briefing; Luncheon follows; First Horse Inspection - 3 pm; Sponsor & Competitor Welcome Reception - 7 pm.
Thursday: Dressage - 9 am.
Friday: Dressage - 9 am.
Saturday: Cross-Country Test -10 am.
Sunday:Second Horse Inspection - 8 am; Jumping Test - 1 pm.

Starting Times:
Provisional times available April 20 at www.kentuckythreedayevent.com and on K3DE App. Definite times available April 25, at EEI Info Booths, Stable Office and www.kentuckythreedayevent.com one hour after completion of Horse Inspection.

Waiver/Release :

A 2018 Signature Page must be signed and provided for each horse.*

A Medical Waiver will be emailed to each rider and must be filled out and returned either by email or to the Stable Office prior to the trot-up on Wednesday, April 25.

Refund/Changes Policy :

Before C.D.-In full; After C.D.-Entry less $25 fee/Stabling-In full. NOTE: NO REFUNDS IF RIDER HAS NOT ADVISED EEI OFFICE OF SCRATCH BY EMAIL BY 4 pm, APRIL 24. Competition cancellation-Full.

Travel Reimbursement: $550 Payable to the RIDER of every horse that starts Cross-Country.

Entry Status :

Entries will be posted on www.kentuckythreedayevent.com starting the week of March 5th.

In addition to sending your entry to EEI, please also enter through the FEI Entry System or your entry cannot be accepted. The link is: https://www.usef.org/_AUAIFrames/FEI/Entry/Default.aspx.

Only complete entries with full payment will be accepted regardless of nationality. A total of 90 horses will be accepted to include any horses specifically nominated by the USEF Selection Committee. In the case of over-subscription, the following process will be used: 1. Riders will be limited to 2 (two) horses. If there is still an over-subscription then 2. The Riders with the most points on the FEI World Eventing Athlete Rankings list as of March 27 (closing date) will be accepted. All other qualified entries will be placed on the wait list. Those on the wait list will be accepted in order as and when there are withdrawals. The wait list will expire on April 24th at 4 p.m.

Competitors may enter any number of qualified horses but only ride at the most three (3) horses and must declare them in order of preference by March 27 (closing date). In case of excessive entries, the OC will reduce the number of horses per rider to two (2) as noted above. "Double Entries" are permitted.

ONLINE entries accepted through Blue Horse Entries. If you are new to Blue Horse Entries, you will first need to create a rider account. If you need any assistance submitting online entry, email ridewithus@bluehorseentries.com, or call 859-493-2125.

Ride Times :

The draw will be published the week of April 12 and provisional times the week of April 19.

Schooling Instructions :

You must sign up for Jump Schools in the Stable Office with the FEI Stewards. Hacking and gallops are only allowed in specified areas. More information will be provided in packets and at the Competitor Briefing.

Stabling Information :

Photo IDs, produced by the Organizer, are required to enter FEI stabling. An email will be sent with more information when entry is received and processed.

All non-compete horses will be stabled outside of the FEI stabling enclosure.

Hay, Grain, Shavings Information :

Stall doors/initial bedding only (2 bales straw or shavings and MATS) provided for competition horses only.

Indicate preference of shavings or straw on Stabling form.

Feed/Hay/Bedding/Mats available for purchase at www.deverinc.com.

Please note: the date & approximate time of arrival MUST be indicated on stabling form.

Please contact the Director of Competition if you need to arrive prior to Monday, April 23.

Golf Cart Rental :

Golf Carts are not permitted and are not available for rent. A private shuttle service for Competitors, Owners and Grooms will be available. More information will be emailed when entry is processed.

Coggins Policy :

All horses coming to the Kentucky Horse Park must have a negative Coggins within 12 months and they should have a Health Certificate within 30 days.

Food and Drink :

Food and drink available on grounds. Specific meal tickets will be provided to all riders. More information will be emailed when entry is processed.

Parking :

Admission tickets are required from Thursday - Sunday and they are being scanned this year. EVERYONE must have a ticket.

Parking hang tags will be issued to Competitors and must be displayed in order to park near stabling.

Volunteer Information :

Most volunteer positions are filled, however, please visit www.kentuckythreedayevent.com to sign up in our system and let us know what you are interested in doing! If and when a spot becomes available, you will be contacted.

Hotels fill up to a year in advance. Be sure to book rooms as soon as possible!
